about

I’m so proud of this song! I wrote and produced Faultlines on my own during lockdown. It means so much to me as it’s a very personal journey out of gaslighting and heartbreak towards self belief and a rewriting of my own story and truth. I wanted the melody to sound like an achy country ballad and the instrumentation underneath to have organic elements like guitar and percussion but also analogue synths for the first time ever - I had so much fun experimenting on the Juno 106 and maxing things out to orgasmic crescendos near the end of the song, like the universe exploding and then reshaping itself anew. 🔥 I’m so excited to share this with you - please go listen and buy and spread the word with your loved ones and like-minded music friends! Thank you :)

FAULTLINES by Fiona Bevan

Don't know why but
Right from the start
The ending was carved
Into the heart of it
Self destruct our
Temple of love
To a handful of dust
How natural disaster is

I tread so carefully
Stepping on the cracks that I can’t see
Eggshell concrete

Blame it on the faultlines
Can't trust the way the earth lies
Pulls itself out from underneath your feet
God forbid I ask why
Let’s blame it on the faultlines
Make a few excuses or just make believe

And it's like a trick of the light
We lie in the night
And say it’s not darkening
So violently you stop loving me
Your fists start to speak
Words you learnt from somebody

I tread so carefully
Stepping on the cracks that I can’t see
Eggshell concrete

Blame it on the faultlines
Can't trust the way the earth lies
Pulls itself out from underneath your feet
God forbid I ask why
Let’s blame it on the faultlines
Make a few excuses or just make believe

My side of the story
And that version you told me
Separate slowly
Chasms in between
My side of the story
And that version you told me
Separate slowly
Chasms in between

Blame it on the faultlines
Can't trust the way the earth lies
Pulls itself out from underneath your feet
God forbid I ask why
Let’s blame it on the faultlines
Make a few excuses or just make believe

My side of the story
And that version you told me
Separate slowly
Chasms in between
My side of the story
And that version you told me
Separate slowly
Chasms in between
